I was loving this book until the ending. I can’t help but feel a bit… abandoned? I still have so many questions. Who am I to question Margaret Atwood but also I want know moreee 🥲 Will be thinking about this book for a while.

the color yellow was an amazingggg choice for this story, it brings so much to the atmosphere. yellow can be such a beautiful color - sunshine, daffodils, butter, lemons, gold, pastry, a happy summery color. but an ugly yellow is uglier than an ugly version of any other color. ugly yellow is sickly and foul and putrid, it’s age, it’s filth, old gunk, oil, bodily fluids. when she describes a “yellow smell” you know exactlyyyy what she’s talking about. no other color can conjure up such discomfort and nastiness like yellow I think. and it does so much for the feel of this story!!!
