La Guerre du pavot - Livre 02 La République du Dragon (relié) (02)
Rebecca F. Kuang

Dark fantasy indeed. Nothing's ever doing great. Only pain, violence and ashes. A book about war, and war only; and how violence and anger shape perception. Tough read at times. Another big yes for me from R.F. Kuang.

it is so disgusting I think I didn't fully realise what people meant when they said it was a tough read

Anyone else here in a bookish career field? I’m a librarian and I’m currently exploring PhD programs in literature, hoping to start one in the next couple years :) What other book related jobs do people have?

is it found family kind of trope? these banters between the members of the Cike are already growing on me. hence the question: are they gonna die? cause until now it has been far from being all rainbows and peonies... I'm scared.

Just me realising I've relied solely on apps for tracking my books or movies. But what if they close down someday? It already happened to me that some apps I relied a lot on stopped getting updates and ultimately were taken down. Now I can't really stop thinking about it happening for PB or letterboxd or any other tracker. I'm talking very long term, maybe 20 years in the future. I'll still be interested in my reading data, but the creators might have other projects and that's normal!
The point is: for people who also document their reading journey offline, what means do you use?
This will help me start my own tracking as a solution to this vague fear!

I've been hearing a lot of hype over Freida McFaddens thrillers so I thought what better book to start with, as I can go watch the movie after as a treat.
I expected more. The story was predictable. The writing was okay. The short chapters annoyed me, not sure why. Was it bad? No. Was it what I expected from the hype? Also no.
