if you get past the fact that the main character is a huge manipulative piece of shit (but really, what can you expect from a MAN), it’s really heartwarming and sweet, and i liked that the end tied everything together

Finished book 8 a few weeks ago (physical book) and have been out of my mind needing more DCC so I went ahead and started rereading the series, but audiobook this time. Definitely a different experience! Love it even more.

lovely little queer graphic novel. surprisingly dark as it touches on some real world issues, but didn’t combat the transphobia aspect as much as i’d have liked it to.

i enjoyed the very atmospheric literary style of writing and how it explored family and love and grief and i did cry but that's where my praises end. pacing was off (incredibly slow in the beginning) and the lack of communication from dom was very frustrating. small thing but it irked me how rowan’s injuries were severe only until it was inconvenient for the plot lol. this is the second book i’ve read from this author and i can confidently say i will not be picking up any more. i forget where i saw this but someone said they do not like how she writes men’s relationships with women and i couldn’t agree more.

    Thoughts from 25% (page 75) - POVs

i find it interesting that we’ve gotten pov chapters from everyone but fen and raff’s are told in the third person; everyone else’s chapters are in first person. wondering if there’s a purpose to this .? there’ve been other books i’ve read that switch up pov and past/present tense narration and sometimes it made sense but sometimes it was arbitrary.
