wtf this book follows four siblings starting a new life in a rural village in ireland in the 1960s. they have a bit of a rough start but when their neighbors - Bill and Betty Neavan - take them on, they find their footing . each chapter is narrated by a different sibling or Betty and slowly, their past and present unravels. it’s obsessive, gripping, confusing, grieving, deep. truly, the longer i read, i was not sure if there’s any sibling besides Peggy i truly root for. but that is also part of the story: the complexity of grief, love (familial and romantic) and wanting to belong somewhere. i really love the authors way with words, even the worst of the protagonists thoughts seem lovely when she writes them down because everything is so poetic. it makes the story even more intense and tangible. i feel like i still have to let the plot sink in a little bit though.
