i really loved what this book was saying, and the message is more relevant than ever. unfortunately, this book felt like i took one duolingo lesson for spanish and then decided to read a whole book in spanish… spoiler alert! i don’t know spanish. i don’t know why this book felt like a different language to me, but i just did not vibe with the writing at all which made my comprehension go way way way way way way down. anyways… happy #pride2026!

imagine confessing your big lesbian feelings to your best friend but she’s possessed and doesn’t remember. talk about awkward! that second hand embarrassment truly sent shivers down my spine. the gross possession stuff barely made me bat an eye 🤣 #pride2026

M-O-O-N, that spells six star read (iykyk).
this book was definitely a chunker and it took me over a month to finish it (oopsies)... but honestly i’ve never read anything quite like it. in some ways it feels familiar and in other ways it's completely unique. at its core it’s a good vs evil story, but reducing it to just that feels like such a disservice. it’s also an apocalyptic/pandemic story, but even that description barely scratches the surface of what this book actually is. what really makes this story unforgettable is the characters. i genuinely think this is one of the most realistic cast of characters that i have ever read about and i've read a couple non fiction books 🙃. they feel so fully alive that by the end i literally felt like i knew some of them personally, which is kind of insane when you think about it. king absolutely got me again with this one!
i’ll probably take a short break from stephen king after this (emphasis on short), but i already know this is going to be one of those books that sticks in my head for a long time. maybe it hit extra hard because i #survivedcovid, so i could immediately put myself into the story from the jump. i love reading!
