english being my second language, this is a challenging read lol. some might call it purple prose? but there are far too many words i had to look up, and i find myself reading the same passage twice, thrice more to really be certain what's going on 😅
but i persevere to see what will become of our lesbian mermaid and her beloved plague doctor! the journey itself is horrifying, and otherworldly, and sweet. a satisfying ending too, all in all. i'm glad i rooted for them 💙

what a delicious ride!!! our main cast has rich and layered outlooks, the food described were so wonderfully mouth-watering, and the prose was highly effective in making you ponder and reflect the state of modern life for women (+the rampant misogyny that comes with it) in relation to the culinary/domestic themes of the book! a truly scrumptious read!!
