The audacity to make a zombie apocalypse feel not only plausible, but relatable to some extent. What was supposed to be an off-putting dystopian story ended up perfectly capturing what it means to be human. Grief, sacrifice, the greater good, all that jazz. Watching such a calculated and observant character unravel ended up being far more moving and impactful than I had anticipated.
