Paint + Prose Club
Featuring wildly talented authors who couldn’t stop at writing the book and had to paint the cover too. Honestly unfair, but extremely good for our bookshelves.
Bitches be hoarding talent.

I read the first 40 pages of this book and that was enough to convince me to never pick up another Backman book 😅 it was just so immediately grating and preachy in its theme I could not suffer it

this is my first Backman novel and i have to say i absolutely understand the praise for his writing style. how he manages to make this novel both heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time with just the perfect balance between the two is incredible! you won’t know whether to laugh or to cry or both.
the story and it’s characters are all so ludicrous in the best way (almost TOO nonsensical at times) with twists and turns that keep you on your toes. the characters are all so real and raw with all their own strengths and weaknesses, and i absolutely loved how he uses them as a reminder to the reader to practice more empathy as we are all just humans trying our best at the end of the day :)
