Manhattan Cult Story: My Unbelievable True Story of Sex, Crimes, Chaos, and Survival
Spencer Schneider

That this is nonfiction is almost unbelievable; it would be almost impossible to write a boring story of Virginia Hall. That being said, if you are not conversant with French geography or WWII history in general, the first half of the book will be a bit hard to follow. It would all be condensed in a fictionalized adaptation, but since this is a history book it is necessarily included. Once the action picks up in the second half, this book is truly hard to put down.

I really enjoyed all the characters in this book, even the "unlikeable" ones, and I felt their development was believable. This is another one where nothing earth-shattering happens in the plot, and yet, everyone has changed in some way by the end. I suppose it is not the most exciting type of book, but I enjoy the realism and Pym's prose does carry you along.
