Already there are aspects I enjoy and aspects I dislike in this book. I really enjoy getting the Bunnies' perspectives, they're as unhinged as ever and I wanted nothing more.
"I saw the word pacing and I saw the word structure and I knew you'd gone to a state school." It's lines like these that I wanted to see most, and Mona Awad is delivering!
That being said, I've mixed feelings on the meta nature of this novel. On the one hand, I enjoy reading the backstories of these characters. On the other, their corrections and mentions of specific lines—lines that often spark speculation amongst readers—feel more like fanservice to me than anything else. This might serve a larger purpose as the novel progresses but I'm not a fan of it thus far.

Oh my god I am such a Sally and I have never felt more seen/heard/validated while also inspired and encouraged to infuse little moments of my life with magic whenever possible.
This book was beautiful, inspiring, and such a joy to turn to for bits of time each day. It had such a grounded writing style that truly made magic feel much more real, and reality so much more magical. I highly recommend listening to the audiobook while going for a walk and connecting with nature, cooking a nutritious meal or baking a delicious treat, and tending to your home, your garden, and/or yourself to get an authentic Owen’s daughter experience.
My one warning: If you’re coming here from the movie expecting an experience like the movie I would highly recommend going in with an open mind and the expectation that that are totally different experiences, both so wonderful in their own way!
