Everything Madeline miller touches turns to gold. I LOVED THIS. the prose I just cannot het enough oh my GOF. The way she writes Circe looking back on these events, almost reliving them is perfectly done. The complexity of Circe as a character, her portrayal of Odysseus, Medea, Helios, DEADALUS. The way she wove those famous stories through tjr perspective of Circe and aiaia was just incredible. I loved the deviation from Greek mythology at the end- it was important to me to see Circe get closure like that and how it tied in to the themes of mortality and humanity presented by Prometheus at the very beginning. Also Penelope’s character was so well done. Overall it was just incredible I love mythology I love Circe that’s my girl and most of all I love Madeline miller

Many seek power externally. Circe teaches us there is an untapped well within, and if we can learn to recognize and harness that power, often by simply shifting our perception, we can truly free ourselves from any fate we haven't chosen for ourselves. I didn't realize how much I truly needed this story in my life until it was over, and if I had I would have tried to immerse myself more in the experience — reading while listening, highlighting and annotating along the way, the works. The writing is beautiful, the audiobook truly brings it to life, and the lessons it offers are priceless. If you are feeling trapped or stuck in a rut, at the mercy of life itself instead of its captain, read this book.

Honestly I’m being overly generous with 2 stars. I have a very deep dislike for abuse of a girl or a woman without the purpose to back it up. This is all style and shock value, no substance I kept picking up on a deeply misogynistic undertone that never gets unpacked and I’m wondering if it’s subconscious on the page The things being said about the book and what it discusses don’t actually feel present in the text. There’s no resolution, no arc, and no tangible growth. It feels so unfinished and like the first two thirds of the book before any growth occurs, like there should be another 100 pages of resolution

If I'm being honest, I was devastated when this story ended and I realized I wouldn't get to see more of this beautiful world and these characters. Once I went outside, touched some grass, regained some composure I realized that if it has to end, it couldn't have been a better ending (at least, for my personal reading tastes). It's actually in my hall of fame of "best endings ever." Perfectly bittersweet, enough details to imagine where the story could go but with enough to provide some closure that makes sense. Plus it follows the fairy tale vibe, and all fairy tales must have an ending to drive it's lessons home. Did anyone else have the same experience?
