  • a book that surprised you

i’m trying to branch out in terms of my reading style, so i thought i would ask all of you guys to share a book (or multiple!) that surprised you.

it could be a book you were expecting to hate but ended up loving, or a book you just weren’t expecting to love as much as you do.

thanks guys! 😝🤠and if i had to choose a book that surprised me (i just wasn’t expecting to love it as much as i do), it would be the audiobook i’m listening to rn -i love you so mochi by sarah kuhn.

  • Content , triggers, etc

Here's a question I have seen floating around other sites for the authors .

Why do some authors put them in the back of the book instead of the first page ? Don't say,' Oh, it's a spoiler if it's in the front '

Question for the readers: Do you think content warnings and trigger warnings should be in the front or the back ? Do you think it's a spoiler if it's in the front.

My opinion is I like them in the front, so you can see a new book and see what may trigger you vs what may not

  • Till the end of the season 🏖️

    Hello my fellow boundlings,

With about a third of summer over (yes, I am in fact counting down the days until autumn, aka my favorite season 🍁🍵🎃), I was wondering what all of your reading plans are for the rest of summer? Especially for those who like to pick books that are on theme with the season (or at least I like to do that) 🏖️☀️

So yes, feel free to share what books or badges you are aiming for this summer.

Be it beach reads, summerween themed books, or something else entirely — I’m curious about everyone’s plans! Feel free to be as broad or specific as you want, like naming a list of books you already know you want to read, or a badge you want to get, or just a general theme / vibe you are aiming for 💖

I look forward to hearing about all of your summer TBRs! 🥰💜

  • Help me choose my next read for the quest? 👀

I am one book away from my bronze badge, but I'd love your recs on which of the quest books I own I should prioritize for bronze, since I own a bunch from the quest! So... of this list, which one is the favorite you've read?:

The Girl Who Fell Beneath the Sea (1 for audio!) The Binding (1) A Forgery of Fate The Drowned Woods Ink Blood Sister Scribe (1) The Darkest Part of the Forest Blood Over Bright Haven (4) Spinning Silver (2) An Enchantment of Ravens Babel (2) Katabasis (1) The Spear Cuts Through Water (5) A Sorceress Comes to Call (2) Gallant (4)

    Thanks for your help! 🙇

Edit: I've added the number of people who recc-ed a book hehe

this was a really nice book, and was different than what i usually read. i like the themes of love and sacrifice, and the characters had a lot of depth and mystery. the actual plot wasn’t amazing to me, but i loved how the story progressed and ended

  • Question of the Day!

    Good morning Bookaholics!

My question for you all today is for the inner writers/imagineers in all of us... 📖✍️

Since the phrase goes: 'Write the story you would want to read', what story would that be? 🤔

  • This or That PB and reading version! 📖

I thought it would be funny for everyone to play this little game that came to my mind, but with a PB and reading theme.

    1. Reading at night OR reading in the morning
    2. Book forums OR PB club
    3. E-books OR physical books
    4. Funny posts OR analytical posts
    5. Audiobooks OR e-books
    6. Reading while traveling OR reading at home
    7. Most discussed books OR least discussed books
    8. Writing reviews OR posting on forums
    9. Annotations OR no annotations
    10. DNF reviews OR read all 100% reviews
    11. PB app version OR PB web version

Edited to add one more. 🙃 The one I'm most curious to see your answers is the last one. HAVE FUN! Hope you enjoy. 😄

  • What prevents you from reading? Any advice to help those struggling?

Brought to you by my misophonia and the landscapers outside of my complex weedwhacking and such (they're just doing their job, not their fault!). I have a hard time with noise interference and intense noise like this keeps me from focusing on anything. I can't close the window because it's too hot, and where I am there is no AC. I'm thinking some noise canceling headphones and background music would be a good remedy for my current situation.

Another big one for me is anxiety and residual stress from work. A lot of times I can't focus on reading because my brain is too worried about work crap or whatever is weighing on me. Sometimes a ten minute meditation helps, other times my brain goes right back into overdrive after meditating.

The worst, though, is depression. I want to read but I'm spiraling and I feel like I don't deserve the joy that reading brings me for who knows what reason. Sometimes I can stop the self shaming, but others it's a real struggle.

Can anyone relate? Or is there any advice you can offer to those of us having difficulties at times?

  • What jobs do you do which allow you to listen to audio books while working?

Although I am mostly an old- fashioned book in the hand reader I am curious what jobs or activities allow you to listen to books? Some people on PB have read so many books already in their yearly reads goals, it is really impressive. Audio books don't always work for me especially when there are a lot of characters to keep track of, world building, and time jumps. I like to flip back to check on things I may have missed or misunderstood. Ring Shout was a book I loved listening to but I tried Kristin Hannah's The Women and tapped out. Part of it, I think, is the narrator (s). Thanks 😊
