truly irritated that i didn't finish this in time for bookclub bc what this book is really about is how you approach literature; each novel is essentially the same, a woman, The Reader, at the center being pursued or trying to be understood by the narrator; reality is a fragmented, even kaleidoscopic, experience, and the act of living is to understand reality. BUT -- there is truth being communicated. IMO. this is what really separates the post modernists from the POST postmodernists. whom i detest.
