got this book gifted by a friend and I didn’t expect it to read it so soon since it’s March and this is a christmas romance but oh my god I loved it so so so much & devoured this within two days.

First of all I really liked the in between chapters chapters of Ellie’s webtoon comic. That’s such a cool & unique way of storytelling too let the reader see what really happened between her & Jack a year ago! Really loved that aspect.

Second of all I absolutely loved the characters. They were also so fully fleshed out and written with so much care and love UGH I want to be part of this found family ( with the exception of Ellie’s mom and Jacks dad. They are literally the worst people ever ). I also really loved how Jack insisted on communicating since "Miscommunications are for the straights" ( her words, not mine ) and did it several times throughout the book. THATS HOW ITS DONE!!!!

Furthermore one could argue that this was an insta love romance, which it kind of is but tbh it really worked for me for some reason. Their love & feelings felt really believable to me ( at least ) which sold the whole book to me. Yes the general story was also really fast paced but they knew each other already before seeing each other at that cabin again so that’s probably why it worked for me.

It also dealt with topics like fear of failure and wanting to prove yourself that you don’t have to depend on other people and it broke my heart that both of the characters had to endure these horrible parents who caused these fears and struggles. Ellie & Jack really understood the struggles from one another and supported each other throughout them and that made this book even more wholesome.

Some books are really meant to find someone and this was absolutely meant to find me. I can’t put into words how much I loved this book, how much the characters mean to me and how much I related to Aurora.

Aurora struggled throughout the story how she’s supposed to live an immortal life without her family because she’s going to lose them sooner or later. She struggled with fear of ending up alone and well, I have been struggling with that fear for so long now it’s almost unbearable now. But this book was truly a gift to me & a sign that I really needed. Because at some point in the book Aurora asked the starmaker how she was supposed to continue to live without her loved ones in the future and he replied "because you’re stubborn" and that really hit close to home because I get told that all the time as well, that I got being stubborn from my dad and honestly it felt like it was written for me. I’ve recently asked myself that over and over again how I’m supposed to live without my family, since so many relatives died within the recent years so yeah I take this book as a sign.

I cried so much while reading this book but damn did I love it. This was truly a gift to me. And I LOVED the writing style. Literally one of the most beautiful writing styles I’ve read in a while!! To be fair the beginning was a bit rushed but I appreciated that the love story took its time to develop so overall this one is a REALLY REALLY GREAT BOOK. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fear of Grief / outliving loved ones

Boy I cried in public while reading this book because it also thematized fear of grief due to the main characters being immortal. I felt so understood and seen because this is also my biggest fear in life to outlive everyone I know. Imagine having to survive that but also being immortal at the same time. Idk how I would survive that. Aurora having the same struggles as I do gives me so much comfort and makes me feel less alone with this fear. Because yeah there are obviously other people out there in this world who probably share the same fear as I do but I haven’t found them yet. Sometimes it becomes so overwhelmingly unbearable so this book is truly a gift to me.

*3,5⭐️ What the hell was that ending?? I am SO confused right now and it’s certainly a way to end a book like that. Except for that ending I really enjoyed this story and I get that this book was supposed to be about sisterhood but Ayoola didn’t have Korede‘s back NOT EVEN ONCE.

I would’ve liked some answers and an ending that didn’t leave me hanging but yeah idk. If anyone has ideas what that ending means pls LMK!
