Ok so first things first just a quick tw for the N word, it’s as soon as Adrien gets to the ranch basically On to the review I…mmm…i can’t say i enjoyed it? But i also didn’t hate it The mystery is a bit less confusing than the first book but the relationship between Adrien and Jake… that in itself is a TW like, cop boy needs soooo much therapy for his internalized homophobia And Adrien needs to love himself a bit more ‘cause the hell you mean you love that guy! He’s barely ok with touching you! I’m also not a fan of every gay character flirting with Adrien like, for real, what was the point of Kevin having a sudden crush on him??

I didn’t noticed the year it was published when I picked it up but damn, i felt it for the whole book

It wasn’t bad, i still managed to finish it, and i do wanna give a shot to the second one But it aged not too well imo and the mystery was a bit shaky

And Adrien and the cop…like i understand, and understood through the whole book, they were gonna be an item, but the last scene?? Where did that baby come from?? The whole last scene in the car too really didn’t make sense to me

I admit, i came for the kink but stayed for the really well written story

Tl;dr it’s honestly a great story but READ THE TWs!

I never read anything exploring eating disorders this well and/or this in depth The relationship between the MCs was lovely to see grow, it also felt realistic in the way they noticed and dealt with Rainier ed (the not noticing at first, the rage Felix felt, how they both tried at the end…)

The queen…i really really wanted to smack the queen for the entire time The nagging, the power abuse, the way she treated Felix and sex work in general… I’m glad in the end she got what she deserved (Felix yelling at her was sooooo satisfying) And i’m so glad the prince didn’t get fixed because of magic or love but he’s actually trying so hard in the end

It was good, don’t get me wrong! A very solid 3.5 imo! It just wasn’t enough for me I might take a break from this author for a while, maybe i’m just settling my hopes too high
