I’m surprised that I’ve read so much of this book tonight (in one long sitting) because I feel like the only thing that people say about The Satanic Verses is that it’s incredibly dense and hard to read, which scared me a lot. It is dense because Rushdie writes almost exclusively in thick prose, but I think once you get in the swing of it it isn’t too difficult and you can’t stop reading. The timeline was also a bit confusing at first but getting the hang of it now. I wish there were forum posts on here for this book because I would love to see others’ thoughts.
