i wasnt sure what i was getting myself into but honestly the way the writing was flowing was great so i buckled up and read this within 2 sessions i got really emotional at the end LOL even though this wasnt an emotional read but that plot twist got me because im going through something similar on my end i wish all romcoms were written like this tbh! such a delightful read

i was engaged reading this from start to finish honestly not a dull moment i had an 11 hours plane ride and i gobbled this up and finished it on that flight it was awesome lol

im so conflicted on this book. as a closeted queer palestinian woman that immigrated to the usa with my parents i had some expectations of this book to address the core of what it means to be someone like me. and i was also intrigued by her aunts secrets that were mentioned in the blurb so i was excited to read about an elderly palestinian queer person and maybe thats not a fair expectation bc sometimes having some representation of certain identity you dont have to make that identity the focal point of the book. but i feel like this book tried to do that but didnt deliver on it the format in which this was told ruined it for me personally a retelling that was through a certain perspective while someone narrating their own birth story and talking to themselves almost it was disjointed and didnt feel cohesive at all
not sure if that was intentional but i didnt like it i also dont know how to feel about the plot being more so about the mc being blue or if its euphemism for something but i felt like the queerness and the identity betty was overshadowed by her blueness first so i didnt feel like she really addressed the other aspects of her self as much as addressing her blueness every other page at times some of the writing was very beutiful and there were really good quotes here and there but overall i felt bored in a lot of the parts and other times i spent wondering about things that were never addressed im not sure what i really missed i feel like im missing a key-part of it maybe i just didnt catch on to the true meanings that were being portrayed but regardless im glad i read this even tho it was challenging

gosh idk if it was that i was already too depressed about my real life and when i read it i just got sadder lol but i went in this book blind i didnt even know what the book was about lowkey so i just so shocked about the plot then quickly realized it was a horror book i never read a book like this before but i wanted to give it a chance ill admit tho the book was really good from plot and complexity of charachters but i just just really really shocked and saddened by the ending like oh my i didnt see that coming at all fair to say it made me depressed 😭 which ig is a sign of a good book id say
