My son would be 5 years old next month and I started to read him books about losing tooth so he could be prepared when it happened. This book is perfect because it made the afterward effects of losing tooth fun and magical. The metaphor of loose tooth become a star is so creative and also motivational, especially for kids who love science.

Then Gabriel had a question. "Why do we get presents for losing our teeth?" "Well, losing a tooth is something to celebrate. It means you are growing up," the fairy told him. "And when you're a grown-up, instead of just counting the stars, you could become an astronaut and visit them!"

The illustrations were good and we (me and my son) liked it a lot. Colorful and delivered the magic within the story tale.

3,5 stars rounded-up to 4 stars because how could the author get this kind of idea?!?! My mind was blowing entirely 🤯

This novella is so kinky, unhinged yet so funny. I snorted so hard while reading it because so many things were bizarrely amusing in this book 🤣🤣🤣

This book is a perfect Christmas (smut) novella. So spicy and kinky as hell 🌶🔥🥵🌶🔥🥵

  • Recommendations for my mums first english read?

    Hello guys!

I'm in need of very specific recommendations and I hope some of you can help me out🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

My german mother (54) has been learning english as her second language on duolingo for years now and she's gotten sooo good and it's given her such confidence, I love it so much.

I'm home for the holidays and she told me today that she picked up my current book that was lying around (Iron Widow) and read a couple sentences and that she even largely understood them. That gave me the idea to perhaps gift her her first english book to read! But 99% of what I read is fantasy and - as far as I know - that's not my mums taste. Shes not the biggest reader as a whole, mainly she just reads a bit on her summer vacation every year, so shes not DEEP in the book game either. The most recent books I've seen lying around at home were darker romance books tho (namely things like 50 shades of grey) which is a genre I'm sooooo lost in too 😭 I do think that I have seen her read other genres before like mystery too? Im not too sure though.

So, do you guys have recs for books that are:

    • easy language
    • short (novellas or short story collections are fair game too!)
    • not YA (it needs to read somewhat adult-y even if the characters are in their 20s)
    • romance? Perhaps dark-ish and spicy-ish? (But keep in mind that it's for my MOTHER😭 My family is chill but I do have s o m e boundaries😭)

That's it I think, honestly your recs don't even have to be solely romance, it can have mystery or thriller aspects maybe, but it needs to stay relatively easy in language and content!

I hope you guys have some ideas for me here!🙂‍↕️ (and that asking for smut recs for my mother to read is not too weird a concept ahahahah)

I am usually not into poetry books but I discovered this book through one of Pagebound quests. The title, the cover, and the reviews intrigued me to try to read this book. Fortunately, this is short book and relatively easy to read.

Though I didn't 100% understand the story, but this book felt like a slap to myself who maybe haven't speak enough for injustices in this cruel world.

Deafness is suspended above blue tin roofs and copper eaves; deafness feeds on birches, light posts, hospital roofs, bells; deafness rests in our men’s chests. ~51% of the book

From what I understood and my very little knowledge of poems comprehension, this book is so relatable with what happens in our daily life. I could easily connect the story within this book with what's happening in Gaza, Westbank, Palestine. How so many people choose to be "deaf" and silence while watching the genocide unfold front page.

At the trial of God, we will ask: why did you allow all this? And the answer will be an echo: why did you allow all this? ~54% of the book

In so much sunlight— each of us is a witness stand: They take Alfonso and no one stands up. Our silence stands up for us. ~57% of the book

There will be evidence, there will be evidence. While helicopters bomb the streets, whatever they will open, will open. What is silence? Something of the sky in us. ~61% of the book

We are sitting in the audience, still. Silence, like the bullet that’s missed us, spins— ~90% of the book

This book is sadly so relatable with our life. It's devastating how sometimes we can't do nothing except refusing to silence and be "deaf" with injustices.

This book definitely left mark on myself and I think became the reflective medium for whoever read it.

4,5 rounded up to 5 stars because the idea of using salty tears as indication that everyone is the same no matter what religion, tribe, and how they look was amazingly refreshing and educational.

I loved reading this book to my son and he loved the book because he could learn about how diverse human beings are but we basically are still the same. Though he corrected the book when they said niqabi as hijabi. His mother, me, is wearing hijab and hijab is different with niqab. Still I was very grateful that this book including niqabi/hijabi.

My son liked the illustrations, but I was not a fan of it. It was colorful yes, but these kind of illustrations in this book is not my choice of illustrations. Hence, the original 4,5 stars rating. Then again, I read this book for my son, so when he liked, enjoyed, and got something educational/meaningful from this book, that was what mattered the most.

I have yet read George Orwell's Animal Farm but I mostly know what's going on in that book, hence I understood this book quite well since the author said that the idea of this book is the continuity of Animal Farm.

This graphic novel, for me, was disturbing. So political but easily understand because of the format which is graphic novel. The heavy subject discussed within the book is relatable with the bad sides of politic in real world. The antagonists perfectly portrayed the real life politicians, it was ironically funny.

Well, that was weirdly funny. Like the other two previous books in this series, Ethan was also unhingedly obsessed with Barbara. Barbara, in the other hand, was having hate-love feeling for Ethan. And like Killian and Damian, Ethan also stalked Barbara hard, but until the end of the book, Barbara didn't know that Ethan stalked her. That was also why I can't give this book more than 4 stars eventhough I enjoyed this book so much. I wish Ethan told Barbara about all his stalker activities. Also same like the other two books, this book heavily lean to spicy stuff than the plot. The plot was still there but so barely there. I am not complaining because I really not into books with heavy plots at the moment. Can't wait to read the next book, which I think would be the last book of this series. Caleb and Basia's book.
