I am SO emotional right now I really loved the journey this book put me through. All 3 women were so different, yet so similar and I adored how it was written.
Our actions really can impact the world and people thousands of miles away, and in times like this, the message feels so important â€ïžâđ©č My heart might burst out of my chest with hope, honestly.

I read this in a day, it felt so captivating. i will agree that sometimes milan is a bit of a bland character, but i found him very relatable in some moments. I loved the other characters, most of all the older ones.
I think this book really shows the difficult road ahead of survivors of any atrocity. it really showed me a perspective on the tutsi genocide that was quite foreign to me, which i appreciated. i would have liked maybe a bit more reflection on reparation and justice, since the gacaca tribunals were such a unique way of going about it, but maybe thatâs the political science major in me talking.
itâs been a while since i read anything in french even though itâs my mother tongue and i found the writing painful sometimes, but i don't read in this language enough to really have an opinion about it :)
