On so far I’ve only finished the 1st chapter but omg she does such a great job at setting the atmosphere! I love her use of words and the way she explains things without having to go into 30 min of world building.

I love books that explore and make great commentary on religion and cults. This is very much one of those books. Its plot is well formed and executed well enough. I did not dnf it but there were many times where the story and characters became so predictable, I felt like “why am I reading this if I know what will happen?” That took away the enjoyment in reading. Over all, the concept is great, the writing is good, and characters are ok, the storyline can be very predictable.

Ok so here is the thing. It was super enjoyable and an easy read but I do have my problems with the book and plot and the characters. There were many times where our man male protagonist seemed very 1 dimensional. Idk if we can call him a protagonist tbh. Well the main love character was 1 dimensional. I get he is a “god” like creature and is meant to be mischievous and fickle but it seemed like that is all to him. He is mischievous, fickle, and obsessed with the mc. There is not really an explanation for why he is obsessed with her. And the reasoning for her attachment to him at the end of story is not enough of a strong reason for her to endure him. I don’t wanna give too much away but yeah. I do like the ending bc it is kinda a realistic one. Like it isn’t a happily ever after type of ending. She isn’t accepted and well loved as we would assume a heroine of the story should be.

It is a pretty easy read! It kept me entertained and I wanted to know what will happen next. There weee times where I was very frustrated at the mc and certain choices but that’s a normal thing. There were also like 2/3 times where I was like ok what does this do to the plot?!
