I love books that 1. are niche, and 2. have an author passionate about said niche. This book is absolutely that, and the niche also happens to be my particular passion (ancient woodland in the UK). I'm only on page 24 and I've been onto Google 3 times already.

A thousand stars for this book. It is so good, and a story I had never heard of. The women in this book were absolutely bad@ss, sticking it to the man and fighting for not only themselves, but the rights and safety for workers everywhere. While there were certainly some truly callous doctors, dentists, and lawyers in this story, there were also really good ones who helped them, and some incredibly loving and dedicated husbands. It is the kind of book that will both make you marvel at the resiliency and determination of human beings while also marveling at their cruelty. It definitely does not cast capitalism and businessmen in a good light (not that that bothers me one bit). It is also not a book to be reading or listening to if you have a dentist appointment coming up - just trust me on this, a routine cleaning hits different when this is whatās in your mind. It also gave me a very potent new fear of necrosis of the jaw. But, all kidding and warnings aside - I recommend this book to everyone!!
