Ok so I have read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight, and now I’m doing Assassin’s Blade. I wish I had started with this one! It’s got me hooked in a way that the other 2 just hadn’t yet - I think it does such a good job of world building and giving me a great sense of who Caelena is. This has me very excited to continue with Heir of Fire next!!
Just wanted to offer my 2 cents on the reading order debate. I genuinely don’t think there is a right or wrong way—just think about what you need in order to get into a new world!

Ok I might’ve enjoyed it towards the end. My real enemy is still the writing 😑 Will I complete all the books? Yes. Is it a series I’ll lose my mind over? No.

One of the students asked how language or words could be forced out of use, and it reminds me of how certain popular words are currently banned in North Korea. There was a cell phone smuggled out of the north recently, and the text function automatically changed certain words before sending a text, and would send an alert to authorities if the user typed the word a certain number of times. Anyway, just a fun (?) fact lol

the only reason why it isn't a 5 star is because of the ending - i'll be honest, i have no idea how it might've ended differently, that is true. but i just felt the ending didn't satisfy me and i think there could've been a better way? not that i could think of it myself. i think of helen as such a character to admire, but also i'm quite cautious about the whole book. i think that considering it's not from markham's view, it's so interesting to see how he perceives the whole thing rather than helen. i've gotta admit, some of it was incredibly personal - like i had to book the book down to remind me that it was fiction and not real life. honestly amazing though.
