I feel very fortunate to work for a company that celebrates individuality and self expression through many things, but my favorite has to be our social channel about books! It's always so interesting hearing what people are reading and if it resonates with them. Our channel isn't super active so my coworker and I have taken it upon ourselves to keep it alive. Which includes providing seasonal an holiday recommendations like today! I gave them some books that I have on my Indigenous Author list to look through.
However... although there aren't rules attached to what we can share I have made some limitations for myself. My coworkers do not get access to my bookish platforms (PB and Storygraph), I don't post any romance recommendations or updates on romance books I'm currently reading and I don't share anything that may be politically charged (history books are fair game. No matter how you twist it you can't argue with notable sources of fact).
I would love to hear how you bring books into your workspace or if you keep home and work completely separate.

I am intrigued to explore more of Gideon and Harrow’s relationship as so far I understand a lot more of Gideon’s animosity to Harrow but not Harrow’s hostility towards Gideon (other than Gideon just being, understandably, a little shit) and how this’ll develop as they go through the trials and tribulations that await them both.
The world that is being built up is making more sense to me little by little but im not quite fully immersed yet.

I feel like I'm old school for preferring a good book summary as the selling point for me as a reader. It feels like book marketing now likes to rely primarily on a mishmash of tropes and pithy blurbs to grab a reader's attention. Clearly it is a method that works, as I see a lot of people respond positively to them on all sorts of social media platforms. But I wonder if there are still readers out there who, like me, prefer an enticing summary pitch that piques my interest to pick up the book? (... and add it to my insanely long TBR hoard.)

I’ve really enjoyed this book so far, the audiobook narration is incredibly engaging and brings each character vividly to life. The author’s attention to detail makes the world feel magical and immersive. That said, I’m currently about 74% in and finding it harder to stay invested. There’s a domestic violence subplot that one character openly excuses, which was disappointing and difficult to read. It’s a story with great atmosphere and charm, but that element definitely took away some of the enjoyment for me.
