While I fully agree with the book and dont even really see liberal feminism as feminism, I canât help but miss when the vast majority of young women had the girlboss feminism mentality rather than that devine feminine, bioessentialist tradwife seeking benevolent patriarch thing a lot of them got going on now. Does anyone get what I mean?

I already have SO MUCH to say abt this book it´s insane.
Chimamanda talks abt how women are not allowed to get angry or upset over injustice, and I RELATE.
I am a huge people pleaser - a trait I´ve been trying to work on. I don´t believe the jokes I tell are funny, but I know the people around me will. I would much rather have a pretty low cut top on, but I know that one girl will say I am a slut again.
Having to consider every action and word is exhausting. Women grow up believing they should always put others before themselves and doubt their own beliefs.
Feminism isn´t standing up against one oppressor: it´s standing up for yourself

I once had an argument with a man (boy) about the patriarchy: he was CONVINCED that women and men are treated completely equal. (more specifically in my country, Belgium) I just think conversations (arguments) like that highlight so many people´s ignorance abt the opportunities minorities do not receive just bcs the problem isn´t noticed.
