Such a short but impactful read. Both a gentle nudge to slow down and notice the abundance already surrounding us (in nature, in our community) and an invitation to reciprocate and take part in the gift economy. I had a lovely time listening to the audiobook, the author narrates it herself and you could feel the soft passion she has for this subject. It felt like a warm hug :)

Not to sound sappy, but SO thankful for this community as well 🩷🩷 I feel like I can see parts of the gift economy on here, not in physical items obviously, but the enthusiasm and positivity and congratulations on updates and badges. I'm glad I can be a part of it and pass some of that kindness on 😊

this reads like the blog of someone REALLY into “living off the land” and i’m already not looking forward to the next couple hours worth of audiobook i have ahead of me.

  • Positively surprised

The idyllic hobbit life dreamed by Tolkien is based on the gifting economy. I'm sure he would be a fervent admirer of this book's author
