ooookay until this point I was a little ambivalent about our main character, he seemed mostly disgusted at the current state of the world, if a little desensitized, which makes sense if you're working in the industry I guess. But "there was something about her he'd like to break" 🙄🙄 this is going somewhere else and I'm not going to like it

Just as the title suggests. For books like 1984, the memory police, and Fahrenheit 451 can we really look at them as pieces of fiction? As readers isn't it our responsibility to question the words that so openly criticise society? And if your answer is no, then who should be voicing out the layered meaning found in these books? What do you all think?

I don't know why I thought this book would be about/from the perspective of a woman, I was kind of thrown when I read "he" 🙈

The world building is confusing me here. I’m pretty new to cozy fantasy so idk if I’m just supposed to accept that there’s all these diverse humanoid species living on a tiny (what should be irl) homogenous island or if we’ll get an explanation sooner or later. Judging from the blurb and setup so far, we’re in for a romance element, but like… what IS Larran? Sure he’s a man but is he half horse? Furry? Antlers? Should I be picturing an animated fawn-like thing for Bryn or does she have a human face? Same with Kiela - as far as I know she’s just a blue hued human. Right now my mind is envisioning a my little pony-type cartoon world which is really throwing me off with the war talk (and I KNOW will be a problem if we get into romance territory).

I saw this on Facebook and thought it was amusing.
Write "My library is a collection of books" and let your predictive texts finished the sentence until you're satisfied.
I'm guessing this is mobile-specific? Do they have predictive texts for PCs nowadays, lol? 🫣
I'll go first:
My library is a collection of books for your rec center and the crocodile Dundee.

I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did, and I don’t know if I would have read it without the read-along. I rarely rate books 5 stars, because in my rating scale that means I would read the book again (which I rarely do), but this one meets that mark.
I don’t think that I have ever highlighted so many passages in a book. The language and prose used by the author helped me to easily connect with and sympathize with Constanta. Her pain, struggle and strength became my own. I was rooting for her through all of it.
The second person point of view is executed excellently in this story. The use of this love letter format allows Constanta to pull the reader through of years of her history while also placing them in the seat of the antagonist, calling out specific events that lead to the core moment of the plot.
The audiobook narration by Abby Craden was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the unique voices she used for each character and her ability to easily portray the emotion being poured out. I felt like I was truly listening to Constanta’s voice.
Format: Audio & Ebook
