it’s so so so incredibly refreshing for the romance to not be enemies to lovers. it’s built on respect and admiration and a genuine fondness for the other. i also love the language barrier aspect to the story. also tisaanah is such a wonderful fmc,, it feels so original

this was really really bad on all fronts. i truly wanted to give this christian author a shot but the characters were so flat and the story beats felt like checking a box on a romance fantasy trope list. it just felt so empty. the sentence quality wasn’t the worst ive seen but it was definitely weak. also an unashamed rip off of fourth wing.

while i like daisy more than magnolia, i am more bored in this book than in the first one :( which is upsetting. also idk if it’s just the formatting for the eBook, but i cannot STAND the constant star asterisk that’s scattered all throughout daisy’s narration that makes me click to the end of the book to read her side note and then click back to the main chapter. and you HAVE to read the side notes to understand daisy’s thoughts fully. it’s pissing me off and making me not want to read it. how is it formatted on paper???

i absolutely LOVED this book! it was such a fresh concept — especially with the current taste of romantasy at the moment (however i wouldn’t really put this as a romantasy, more of a dark fairy tale with romance) . the rhythmic poems that the nightmare often spoke in as he quoted the old book of alders was always so fun and eerie. i personally saw how the story would unfold from a mile away so there was no real shock factor, but nonetheless i ate this up!!
