I've just read that this Agatha Christie's novel is being adapted into a TV series, so I think it would be apt for this quest.

I was mildly disappointed by this book, especially by the author's writing style: it is narrated in the present-tense and sometimes feels like the author is excessively guiding you through the plot. I liked Kuang's way of describing unlikable characters and publishing industry, but I felt like it was redundant at times. I would recommend this book because I think the writing style is a me-problem, and the story is a witty and cynical critique to American publishing system.

Unfortunately my TBR did not and does not include the books chosen for the readalongs⦠is any one else feeling guilt over not reading their already established and too long TBR? Iām not really talking about the books listed on Pagebound⦠itās the unread books that stare at me from the bookshelf. šš¤¦š»āāļøš¤·š»āāļø

Hi! I'm currently studying acting for stage and screen at university and have got into reading books that have been turned into plays. I was wondering if there is a quest or a list on here for books that have been made into plays? Also what are your favourite books that have been made into plays? What would you recommend? š

If a book has a movie/show, do you read the book first or the movie/show first? And why?
This is me; Me: āI just finished this bookā Person: āOoh Iāve seen the movie!ā Me: āThereās a movie?ā
I donāt think Iāve watched a single movie/show about a book Iāve read, ever. Except Heated Rivalry which Iām in the process of watching (I read the books first)

People often hate on tropes. So I'm starting a discussion to hear the people. Here is my opinion on this:
Tropey novels aren't that bad if they have something amazing literary wise to make up for it. Every novel in it's own way follows the usual tropes and archetypes. Especially within genres. Dystopians with a girl and/or guy (who so don't love each other, but totally will) and they must save the world from the evil regime. Fantasies and the chosen one with cool powers who saves the world. You get it. And that is fine if effort is put in to make it more than that. I shouldn't be able to predict the whole story off of one synopsis because I know how every romantasy works these days. I shouldn't know every single twist and character's personality just off the synopsis. You think I'm exxagerating but read enough terrible romantasies (Around 2 or 3) and you will know the plot immediately. Same with romances. You already know the plot so what's even the point of reading? It's the same old same old. No challenge. I would be so happy to find out a romantasy I thought was terrible wasn't. But that has never happened once. Because none of the mainstream authors put in enough effort to make it anything more than tropes. But it would be a real shocker to find a mainstream novel that was actually good (because if it ain't the plot, it's the spelling mistakes and grammar issues. WHICH SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN A TRAD PUB BOOK!!!!!!)
Idk. How do you feel about it?

Fairy Tale retellings were something I read a ton of during my teen years, so I would love to know which ones have older protagonists. I have already read Nettle & Bone and I'm planning on reading all the T. Kingfisher ones. I would also love to know which ones you liked that are closer to classic romance than horror/thriller/sci-fi. Thanks everyone!

also, people (and jane austen herself!) say emma is an unlikeable character and i just don't see it? she's awesome and adorable! very much an ideal protagonist to a story or theme! I'd always thought she'd be insanely unlikeable because I found anne to be so unlikeable (I LOVE HER!! i just thought a lot of her behaviour is more prone to attract dislike from people, that's it lol)

with every quest drop the badges seem to be getting better and better! the new bug & dystopian quests may have taken over as my favourite badges, but i also love the botanical horror, queer horror & intro to poetry badges.
do you have a favourite? does the aesthetic of a badge sway you when youāre deciding which quests to check out?
