My Year of Rest and Relaxation

i really wanted to like this book, but i really, really did not enjoy it. the protagonist is unbearable and astonishingly misogynistic. i imagine this book is popular among self pitying, whiny men who think they’re deep and don’t think of women as people. if this book had focused less on the protagonist’s abuse of women and more on his relationship with his father it might have been more enjoyable but as it stands it kind of just felt like “i am a pathetic miserable loser and i hate women and treat them like shit and never change or learn anything the end”… unfortunately very disappointing

“”Have you been eating sand again?” “I haven’t eaten sand in months,” Nona protested, then more truthfully: “Weeks,” and more truthfully than that: “One week.””
