  • Bookish Creativity 🖌

Hi all! I've just been thinking about how sometimes I finish a great book and it makes me want to create! I don't wanna leave this book and this world behind yet, so I always turn to art to express some feelings, or draw some characters that I really like, etc. Fanart is something that gives me so much joy, and for me it is a way to kind of keep my relationship with a book alive and reflect on it! For some books I also start curating playlists that reflect the book's vibe so I can just dive back into it whenever I listen to these songs.

So I was wondering how you engage with your fav books, do you do the same as me, or does it animate you to write / cosplay or something entirely different?? :D

  • Reading in a foreign language?

Hi ! I'm French and I live in Iceland. Obviously, there are no books in French in the bookshops, but there are lots of original versions in English. I'm comfortable with this language in my everyday life, but I have to admit that it's very difficult to immerse myself in novels that aren't written or translated in my mother tongue... 😅 Have you encountered this situation? And do you have any tips? The last thing I found was to listen to the audiobook while reading the book.

  • Reading Around the World Challenge

My current decade-long reading goal is to read one book from each country around the world! This has been a wonderful experience and I've encountered so many wonderful books! The only difficulty I've faced is there are a few books that I've seen that look incredible, but haven't yet been translated into any languages that I read!

I have two questions - is anyone else trying this challenge, and would we like to make a thread / group about the challenge itself?

Secondly, I'm curious if anyone has any recommendations for books from their home country that they might recommend. I'll go first - Greenlands by Michael Christie (A Canadian) was a surprise gem, and helped me out of a huge reading slump!

Nice plot and concept, but this book is probably suitable for a younger audience.

  • How many is too many?

How many books do you read at the same time and why?

I feel like only one is not enough to keep me focus, so here I am juggling between 4 and having so much fun I might add a fifth. I have 2 book in french, 2 in english, 2 in audiobooks, 1 paperback and 1 on my kindle.

It's like having multiple format helps me keeping my enjoyment for reading (ADHD life, it might seems).

    What about you??

Cheh Philippe V, as we say in argot French. Never been so satisfied by a novel's prologue.
