i find it so pressurizing and overly revealing as i like books for very personal reasons and i am afraid that when they go through the texts a lot about me will be revealed along with the story.

i dont know if this is just a thing where i live (pakistan) but the price of physical books has gone way up and the guilt of buying a new book has started outweighing the joy of buying a new book. are people in other places in the world experiencing the same?

I think mine is The Octunnumi Fosbit Files Prologue… the book had a really cool concept but was SO confusing. But it’s one of the coolest books I have, with pitch black edges, a matte black cover with glossy black detailing, gold embossed lettering, and detailing on each page. I keep it solely due to its aesthetic 😂

I admittedly didn’t read a single page of the books I was assigned in school and want to go back and see what I’m missing. So which books did you think were worth it, and maybe even more importantly, which ones do you consider a skip?

I picked up the first 3 books of ACOTAR after watching a mocking review of them, and I had fun hate reading along with the booktuber fun fact, I picked up zodiac academy for a similar effect but ended up loving it too much

A gift from my boyfriend. Had been intrigued by the name for ages but saw the low ratings and stayed away. Curious to dive in now, hope the ratings were just personal preferences that I don't share because I am really craving a fun messy book.

A literary take on F, Marry, Kill game. What's a book that was metaphorically appealing enough to take home for a night or two, but you wouldn't commit to outside of the library, or [insert borrowing platform that applies]? What's a book that you love so much, you would literally buy all special edition covers for, or whatever goes for a six carat diamond ring? What's a book that a regular bin isn't enough, you need to see the pages on fire, even at the risk of looking like someone who supports banning books? I'll go first Borrow - Cleopatra and Frankenstein ★★★★☆ There was no love lost with the prose , plot and the characters, but I enjoyed flipping through the pages and reading the mess. I just couldn't relate to it, but would recommend for fans of Sex and the City, and Vanderpump Rules. Buy - Small Gods (discworld) ★★★★★ It was more than just a fantasy book. It was funny, it was deep, it was clever, and it was witty. It was everything a book could be. Burn - The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue ★☆☆☆☆ Great gowns, beautiful gowns - Aretha Franklin

so there has been discourse on TikTok about who is the actual author behind this, as I think the person is already a well known established author who writes romance. after reading a review spoiling the entire plot to me in great details, I have come to the conclusion this is written by the same author as that of the Fourth Wing. The writing initially reminded me so much of RY's and the same nostalgic 2010s feeling that Fourth Wing gave me. Every one has been super curious how an author wouldn't want to claim this book (someone even said this is Colleen Hoover because there is smut with no plot), and I think its because the general message of the book is: oppressed are equally bad as oppressors, oppressors are also humans who hurt, and it's okay to fall in love with the person whose father and people are committing g*nocide against your people. If you remember in end of '23 what the controversy surrounding RY was about, you'd know she would never ever release this book under her actual name because of how it would be interpreted as. just sharing my theory
