Chapters 1 and 2

This is my second attempt at this series (I've read the rest of the maasverse multiple times) and I just am really struggling with the urban-fantasy. I've started mentally comparing it to the Mortal Instruments series to convince myself I will like it since I remember really enjoying those??

It's been a huge info dump with no context to really attach anything to so I'm hoping once things pick up a bit I will be able to recall pertinent details.

Anyway, some thoughts, reactions, and I guess predictions? (Taking notes as I read so generally just cherry picking from those)

Phillip Briggs - I know they're saying he's the worst (giving Charlie Manson sets off a car bomb and all) but also why is no one like 'idk maybe humans SHOULD have a seat at the table too??'

Danika being able to talk in wolf form is sending me, I keep trying to imagine what that looks like.

These gates seem verrry important.

Alot of curiosity about the drop. I am currently predicting that Bryce is actually going to also conveniently have an insane amount of power.

Danika's mom sounds like the worst and I would not be surprised if she became a primary big bad.
