Thank you so much to the author for giving me an ARC copy of this book! Disclaimer: All of my opinions are of my own and in no way influenced by the author or anyone else.
Wow. This book was so much more than I expected. I wanted to keep reading and reading. I tend to lose interest when the main love interests get together but this one managed to keep me hooked with the constant suspense and questions.
There were some things that threw me off a bit though. The pacing was a bit strange, and when I was already about 60% through the story, I felt like things hadn't really started yet. The ending made up for that, however, and I'm very much looking forward to reading the next book! I saw a couple of grammatical errors which I hope are corrected in the final version.
Overall I really enjoyed this read! Perhaps horrantasy is my new go-to genre.

Overall this is a great book and I'm looking forward to reading the next one BUT I do have some complaints that threw me off.
The writing style wasn't something I was used to. The first few chapters were somewhat confusing and at times I didn't really know where we were (location-wise). So many characters were introduced as well and it was a little hard to keep track of all of them. It also felt a little slow but after things started to pick up and I got used to the writing, it got better.
The double POV was a bit confusing at times. Because it's written in 1st person, it did sometimes take a few double takes on whose perspective we were reading from again. I think it would've been better if the book was either written in 3rd person or only Erik's POV was in 3rd person.
I really enjoyed the story though! The book ends with a cliff hanger (naturally) and I'm eager to know what happens next. The next book has a lot of questions to answer to! The relationship between Livia and Erik is intriguing because of their shared darkness—definitely unlike the usual enemies to lovers relationship (if this can be called that?)

I'm not a huge fan of the writing style (the first 2 chapters were somewhat confusing) but at least the plot is slowly pulling me in. Looking forward to what's gonna happen!
