I love that there’s just a cat now. And I’m also wondering what the cat has to do with the stone… I’m assuming it has showed up as a sort of protector, based on the interaction with Fennus, but I’m interested to see what, if any, role it continues to have in the story.

This was probably one of the strangest and most interesting books I’ve ever read. I started to read it a few years ago, put it down for a while, and finally picked it back up recently. It was really interesting to get to see the dichotomy in the main character’s inner thoughts. He’s both resisting turning into a monster and also accepting it as a part of him, which somewhat parallels his thoughts about his faith and his upbringing, too. It’s definitely gruesome in parts, but it also has really beautiful found family themes. It can be hard to read in parts because some of it reads like a warning about how everything could go if we don’t try to put a stop to all the hate that runs rampant in the world. However, once I picked it back up, I couldn’t stop reading it.

This book is cozy but it does have some weird editing errors which mostly don’t bother me while I’m reading but just… confuse me. It’s as if it was made for different size pages and the spacing didn’t format correctly in this size. It does have two editions and an editor, though, so I’m not entirely sure why this is.
