thank you to DAW for access to this ARC through netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
the dragon has some complaints follows Garrodigh, a three headed dragon, as he ventures the wilds, human civilization, human war, and human politics.
this was such an interesting book to read because it’s from the perspective of a dragon, specifically Centerhead. the narrative voice is often times serious, but has to grapple with the delivery of incredibly unserious lines. a lot of the jokes feel like middle school humor, very immature. it’s not really my thing, so not all of them landed with me, but i did enjoy a few here and there.
the plot itself felt a little difficult to connect with. as this story is mainly focused on Centerhead’s perspective, we are watching the human plot unfold through his eyes. so there’s already a degree of separation there. the best comparison i can make is that it feels like watching friend group drama happen without being involved yourself. so you have very little context as to what exactly is going on, and you’re struggling to figure out all the details. the main difference between that and this book, was that eventually you do pick up on what’s going on.
the characters themselves are quite lovable. by the end of the book, i was quite invested in their growth.
i’d recommend this book to people who like unserious reads. also people who like disney movies.
