Well, I will first start by quoting Zoe Williams from The Guardian (theguardian.com): "Okay, here's the story - there's a widow, a very pretty widow, with four very pretty children. She locks said children in an attic. They grow up, and the oldest two do the nasty, even though they are siblings. Well, come on, they're in an attic! What would you do for fun, teach yourself Latin?"
I think that best summarize this book in particular. Second, I think it is unfair to judge a book based solely on the theme/trope it has. Sure, incest is terrible! But one must read the book first to understand why the Dollangager siblings did it, and perhaps sympathize. A little story: I first read the book when I was twelve years old at my school library, don't know how the book got there, but I actually liked the book. And I did re-read it again years later. Love the narration, the way the book could evoke my emotions. It is 5/5 from me.
