  • M/M Sword & Sorcery Recs? āš”ļø

I have been reading the Nightrunners series by Lynn Flewelling and it's been scratching such a specific itch for sword & sorcery/adventure fantasy with queer mmcs, and I'd love more recs for stories of a similar vein. Any fellow Nightrunners have some faves to recommend? Huge bonus points if there's any with trans characters, but not required, and the romance does not have to be a central plot point as long as it still involves the mcs! I love a good subplot! Editing this to say I'm more interested in adult recs than YA! I haven't been in a huge YA mood recently! Also please do not recommend me anything by TJ Klune or anything even tangentially related to HP.

  • What would you call this genre?

I'm obsessed with MM but get super into subgenres. Here follows a list of books that have these characteristics in common: - urban fantasy (magic or supernatural creature) - very lighthearted/cozy (no angst, very little sense of urgency) - funny (clearly intended as a comedy by the author) The Incubus's Assistant by Amy Padilla Dating a Demon by Amy Padilla Shroom for Improvement by Jemma Croft The ABSs of Spellcraft by JC Price (peed myself laughing to the audiobooks) The Undead Detective Agency by Shelby Rhodes Quest Investigations by EJ Russel Goliaths of Wrestling by Lily Mayne Villainy by AJ Sherwood Murder Sprees and Mute Decrees by Jennifer Cody Demonic Disasters and Afterlife Adventures by Shannon Mae To me these are different than say The Unwilling Adventures of Harlow & Foxx by Shelby Rhodes or Vampire Related Crimes by Alice Winters, because in these books, there is a sense of urgency and like if the MCs make the wrong choices, there will be serious consequences. So the difference between a mystery and a cozy mystery, without it being straight fluff and without it being a mystery. I've been thinking of it as "cozy urban/fantasy romcom." Thoughts?

    Enjoyment: Quality: Characters: Plot:

What I liked: Glory hole meet

What I didn’t like: Literally everything else

    I have a few questions;

Why were mating heats every freaking month and like 4/5 times specifically in this book?

Why were all the alphas shit people except kinda sorta Maverick?

Why did maverick calling Skye, Skye-light make me want to DNF immediately?

Why did everyone immediately assume Skye was smart because he wore glasses?

Why did it seem that omegas could not really say no to alphas during heat and that was just the given?

Why the Den club scene? No one even had sex or any revelations…just completely random alpha/omega sex club where nothing of significance happened.

Why were all the male omegas feminized so much? One male omega in the club described as having pigtails, pink lipgloss and licking a lollipop

Why did the shifter outcast pack even do a bond breaking ceremony for them? For nothing in return when they were described as rednecks, outcasts and grifters.

Why was every single characters main personality trait level 10 horniness?? Like seriously

Why did they bond if their whole societal knowledge of bonding said only with a bite to the neck?

Why did Maverick take Skye to meet his mom at that crappy diner she worked at when he never not once referenced her or meeting her even in his internal thoughts knowing she was fucking awful and was going to shit on him (Maverick) in front of Skye?

Why were omegas literally treated as disposable sex toys by everyone in the story but especially by all the alphas, even the ā€œgood guysā€?

Suffice it to say I was not a huge fan of this. Such a let down

  • Heated Rivalry TV Show release date

Who else is DYING to know when it will be released? I'm so fucking excited!!! I think I've listened to the audiobook 25x. And I've read the ebook at least 3x. CANNOT WAIT! I've been an avid MM reader for over a decade and I'm so hype to see a genuinely good MM get a screen adaptation.
