What an absolute gut punch of a book. This story covers themes of race, class, gender, and examines privilege and responsibility in the face of oppressive systems.
It include masterful character writing. Our MC Sciona in particular. She's complex, messy, frequently errs in her judgements and assumptions, and is oftentimes not particularly pleasant. But it is her tenacity, focus, and single-minded determination that propels the novel through it's breakneck pace and fiery conclusion. Not just her, but all the characters felt flawed, real, and deeply human.
I also greatly appreciated the realism behind the ending. Nothing is getting wrapped up in a tidy bow here. Oftentimes, there is no magical one solution that solves everything neatly. All we can do is press on towards hope.

Firstly, greetings fellow boundlings! I hope you guys are doing great and that I hope May was kind to you guys and that you achieved the goals you had for the month. As for me, I've achieved some of it as I managed to finish my Austen marathon and started on my mystery run with some good old Agatha Christie.
Secondly,Happy Pride Month to all the queer Boundlings on here🌈! Know that you are loved and seen by many of us here! I hope you guys have a wonderful month and get the chance to live as your authentic selves!
Thirdly, what are everyone's plans for the month? As for me, book wise want to do one more Poirot story then read another book because there are a lot of Poirot books to get through and I think that's what I'll be doing for the rest of the month. Life wise, I'm winding up my application for my degree so that I can go abroad✈️📚!
Overall,I hope everyone has a lovely month ahead and that everyone achieves their goals and fulfills their plans for the month!
Lots of love, Nicotherelative ❤️.

I don't know if its just me, but when I'm reading books I kind of just have stock characters from like tv shows and stuff that I imagine with the characters instead of trying to visualize them from character descriptions. I'm trying to do better but also I feel like this is just a skill I haven't build up and find I keep falling back on what I was doing before. If anyone has any ideas of how I can get better at this that would be great!

It's been a while since I posted something similar to this. Finally, I'm done with schoolwork and got a new idea.
For accuracy, please include the year and painter. There are many artworks with the same name and I don't want anything to be mixed up.
Either way, I'll take a look at the painting and give a recommendation (I doubt I'll look into every painting's analysis, so the recommendation might have nothing to do with the actual meaning of the art, I'll mostly base myself on vibes).

Anyone else reading this book think it's sounds like a fairytale? The way it's written reminds me of when mum would sit on the bed reading snow white. Just the vibe I'm getting.
