We need to stop with those reminders to those we’ve lost and mourned (outside of the book, too). Not cause it’s bad writing or takes us out of the story, it just makes these characters so damn human and really shows their hurt and loss😭😭

“Why, my dear Basil he is a Narcissus, and you—well, of course you have an intellectual expression and all that. But beauty, real beauty ends where an intellectual expression begins.”
Well if this is a challenge to not be an asshole, Lord Henry’s failed it at least twice, and we’re not even twenty pages in yet 😂😂

This was...dissapointing yet still enjoyable. Eilish is truly a 'woman' written by a man as she sets off to America and tries to find her own way - in life, in Brooklyn, in work, in friendship, in relationships, in living with new people. Yet in all of this, Eilish remains fairly stagnant and distant from the reader...which was a shame.
