Tammara Webber is one of my favorite authors from my later highschool/early college years. I've reread the Between the Lines series multiple times, but haven't reread the Contours of the Heart books. Looking for an easy nostalgia trip.

I was warned by another reader that the author only uses male/female and never says man/woman. It's already irrationally irritating 😭

I plan on reading all of these books to my baby boy. I hope to instill a love of reading in him. I don't often read young kids' fiction/chapter books, so the writing mechanics will take some getting used to. It was a bit difficult to not get irritated that every line of dialogue has a simple "said" tag, but I know that's indictive of the genre.

A fantastic prologue! I adore a good mythology, and this one is looking strong so far. In fact, it's looking like the world building will be much more elaborate than I expected -- a great thing for a high fantasy novel to have, but unexpected due to this one's popularity on bookish social media. It appears to me that the most popular high fantasy books these days are the ones with minimal world building (which has its merits as well, of course).
Additionally, I'm loving that there are three vastly different breeds of dragons. That's a rare treat as well, and I'm curious how their differences will be showcased in/affect the plot.

This book is short but packs a mighty punch. It reads almost like a love letter to writing itself. Amal El-Mohtar writes in a way I aspire to be capable of.

A very mid book. This series was rereleased, switching from Gowns and Crowns to "Gatekeepers of the Gods." I was intrigued by the myth aspect, but it was practically non-existent. This book also threatened to push me back into a reading slump. It was fine. I finished it. But nothing really kept me invested. I wanted there to be more about the gods. Instead of being woven seamlessly into the story, it is very obvious that the myth aspect was sprinkled in so the author could republish and get more money from this series. I won't be continuing.
