I’m honestly intimidated to start this book. So many people have loved it and recommended it to me. Part of me is afraid that it won’t live up to the hype and part of me is afraid that I’ll get bored. Don’t get me wrong, I love the environment and sustainability! It’s just a long book 😅😅 Wish me luck!

I love love love buying second hand books. With how trendy thrifting and diy has become again, it rly surprises me that this craze hasn't reached the book community
I used to check the used sections in my local bookstores, now I feel like they're smaller, or just not well organized (pretty much ruined books, insanely dusty and not even genre categorized). I've been trying buying books on vinted lately, which means I can't check whether the quality of the book is up to my liking, but especially with how expensive books have gotten it's been a dream seeing paperbacks around 5 to 12 euros again. I also saw a seller selling their annotated books, which tbh seemed a bit weird to me? I annotate books for my collection, or to gift to friends, but I still think its super cute and I would love to get one of her copies one day (she has ppl we meet on vacation and it's just so hard to find foreign books in my country, plus it's cheaper!!!)
I think certain readers are quite picky when it comes to their books. No creasing, no stains, no annotations, which is a preference, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but maybe it deters ppl from getting second hand. I think there's smth so special to holding a book someone else has held before, even if it's a little ruined

Took a prolonged break from this book and did end up reading “There Are Rivers in the Sky” by Elif Shafak in the meantime. It’ll be interesting getting back into a world where water is the enemy after being immersed in one where it is transcendant and giving. I’m feeling tempted to find another book with a narrative centered around water so I can continue the theme.
