I have been learning SO many new words from reading this year and wanted to hear if anyone had favourite new words?
I keep a list on my phone and so far these are some faves: Alacrity Imperceptible Intransigent Mordantly Sordid
Anyone else have an expanding vocab? Books that really pushed your active vocab? Jargon that you're surprised is more common than you thought? Or! Do you have favourite words that you wish more people knew and used?
Language is so cool ✨️🫶

does anyone have a count for all of the cigarettes smoked in this book in total and per character? i'm not complaining, i am just genuinely curious about the numbers here. i feel like i need an ashtray just reading this.

jennette mccurdy may not agree with the use of this prop but i would like to personally butter-sock everyone in her life
please take note of the trigger warnings before reading this book!
as someone who grew up watching icarly nearly everyday after school, it makes me feel kinda guilty to know that while i was laughing and enjoying the show, jennette was suffering behind the scenes because of her family and the disgusting people of the child entertainment industry. it takes a lot of courage to relive the traumatising times in your life, and i commend her for being able to do it in order to write and narrate this book.
i’ve been feeling quite conflicted on whether i should even say this but i kind of wished we got to know more of her thoughts and feelings throughout all of these horrible experiences. this book came off as more of a journal of her memories rather than in-depth reflections of her past. of course, her feelings might be too personal to share especially considering the sensitivity of what she went through but when you market a book as a memoir instead of an autobiography, the readers would naturally have certain expectations.

Every man’s profile confessed that he is both overly competitive and would like to travel to Japan.
as a single and (unfortunately) straight woman who sometimes uses dating apps, i can confirm this isn’t even an exaggeration 🙄
*edit: grammar!
