this final book felt slow at first, mostly because i was annoyed with nesta, but watching her grow and change into a better person made it worth it. there was a lot of smut, which honestly got a little frustrating because i just wanted to know what would happen next. overall, it was an emotional ending to the series and i’m glad i stuck with it.

the things that disappear are significant because each one is connected to the narrator’s memories and past relationships, especially with his parents and his ex girlfriend. the disappearance represents emotional loss rather than just physical loss, forcing him to reflect on moments he once took for granted.
i also see the devil as a possible illusion caused by his brain cancer. instead of being real, the devil may symbolize his fear of death and the fading of his memories, with each disappearance representing parts of his life slowly being erased.
losing the things the devil made disappear, forces the narrator to finally understand their value.
