this was a wild ride, I've seen people say this is their least favorite of the trilogy and if that's the case then i have no idea what's coming. so much respect for hobb's craft and the deeper i get into this series the more shocked i am that it's not considered a must-read classic of the genre. on to the next!

I'm fully supposed to be working but these last couple chapters have been so tense I can't put it down 🥲 Hobb is great at backing characters so far into a corner that you have no way of predicting how they'll get out. and yknow what sometimes they don't lol

I saw several people in the introductions topic mention they'd like to get into poetry but didn't really know where to start—I'd love to hear people's recs for intro poetry collections or poets! A few favorites of mine below:
"A Thousand Mornings" by Mary Oliver "Conflict Resolution for Holy Beings" by Joy Harjo "Your Emergency Contact Has Experienced An Emergency" by Chen Chen "Night Sky with Exit Wounds" by Ocean Vuong "Memorial" by Alice Oswald (excellent parallel read with the Iliad!) "Averno" by Louise Glück "What the Living Do" by Marie Howe "Bright Dead Things" by Ada Limón "From a Land Where Other People Live" by Audre Lorde "A Fortune For Your Disaster" by Hanif Abdurraqib or for something a little more classic, "Sonnets from the Portuguese" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Hit me with your recs!

this was so much more complex than i was expecting, i completely blew off work to read the last 80 pages in one sitting. fitz is baby, burrich is daddy, and I've found the next series that i will obsess over and read way too fast. don't know that I've felt this way about the beginning of a series since the YA days of early high school 🙏
