Yeaaaah… I think this was an okay book if you don’t look too much into it, tbh. I listened to it, so it kept me company through my daily chores lol. (The audio narrators/actors were excellent btw!!!)
I do believe it’s full of plot holes. The FMC was exasperating and annoying most of the time (that “I’m not like other girls” vibe is tedious, maaan). I really don’t think this book passes the Bechdel test btw. I didn’t like that there’s too much lore just infodumped in conversations, and in general it lacked a lot of romance throughout the book for a romantasy novel.
Carrion, Ren, Lorreth, and Archer were probably my favorite characters. Kingfisher was nice too from halfway through the book onwards.
Again, I guess it was okay and entertaining, but that’s it. I enjoyed the world building, though it was kinda confusing from time to time; it felt like just a bunch of tropes and clichés thrown in lol.
Will I take a look at Brimstone? Maybe, but I’ve made up my mind to treat it like a fanfic that made it into a book.

I don’t want to say i completely hated this book because if i read this before acotar and fourth wing i would’ve probably liked it a lot more. But unfortunately this felt like a bunch of fantasy tropes smashed together, e.g.,the weak but badass human girl who’s fights ,the shadow wilding fae male, the i hate you we could never be together, etc…
Even though there was a plot, the biggest focus of the book seemed to be their relationship, which felt empty. She hated him for for what exactly? She now likes him why exactly? They kept having moments that were weirdly intense after knowing one another for a couple of days, which could’ve worked if only it had an explanation behind it.
A lot of the dialogue was cringe, especially in the first spicy scene. In one scene he said they could never be together and in the next he was acting like they needed to be together, felt like inconsistent writing.
Also, the vampires felt out of place.
I like my books with yearning and pining over one another rather than fucking at the first opportunity, but that’s just me.
I was nice listening to the audio book it helped a lot, and if you look pass all my complains it was somewhat entertaining. Maybe i’ll listen to brimstone on my commute, but also there so many amazing books i could read instead.

Oh my heart. I haven’t watched the entirety of campaign 2 but i loved vox machina and the mighty nein, so i knew i had to read this book. I had been looking for a book with a dnd, adventure vibe and this was exactly that and more. The writing was impeccable, i felt as though i was falling in love with them. It felt like opening a love letter, or the smell of rain on a hot day. Just a hundred-something pages in, i already knew this was going to be one of my favorite books. Safe to say i very much recommend this book. 🥹🥰
