i think it's just because i wasn't truly in the mood to read a mystery so it affected my enjoyment of it. also didn't rly feel connected to the characters but it's a part of the genre itself where the characters are treated as game pieces for u to figure out. i don't think it's really a bad thing, just not for me
that being said i do like how the plot plays out! the ending took me off guard. i might read the rest of the installments when i actually feel like reading another mystery :)

havelock really is like the dad that opposes getting a pet cat but ends up doting on them the most
a very cozy read! if you love cats, definitely pick this book up because reading how fond agnes was of them, plus how other characters treated the cats made me a bit emotional aha
also really liked how it doesn't condemn agnes for falling in love even after her husband passed. i think the book handled the tricky topic of finding love again even after your partner has passed pretty well
this might just be my issue but i find it a bit hard to connect to fawcett's characters. i still like them but i felt mostly detached from it. that being said, this book was still an enjoyable read wahoo

this book was definitely better than the first one and that was a hard bar to beat. i absolutely loved the added POVs of marek and sefa, i love them both sm 😭 honestly i think if i went into this book completely blind instead of knowing it had a bittersweet ending, i probably would've liked it just a bit more BUT that doesn't mean i didn't cry lmao (iykyk). whatever doubts i had about the romance from the first book were all addressed in this book, arin made up for his character so good, a solid duology 🫶
