  • summerween recs please 🏖️🎃✨

The time has come - it's hot outside, summer slasher movies are popular again and I want books that match the vibes. 🙂‍↕️ I already made a list with some summerween recs (feel free to check it out 🖤), but I need MORE. So tell me, which books basically scream summerween for you? Which summerween-esque books are on your tbr this year? 👀

  • Bibliomancy 🔮🕯️

Hello muy dear Pagebound ussers, it's me! Your fellow witchy reader. Today I wanted to talk about a really interesting divinatory method: bibliomancy. The method is quite simple: I choose a book with my eyes closed, and pick one based on the vibe/energy that I feel when I wander my hand over them. Then I repeat the process passing the pages till my intuition tells me to stop. For the last step, I just move my finger across the page until I just feel like stopping (again, energy thing, gut feeling, whatever you wanna call it). Now you have a really specific sentence or description that can answer your question if you have one, or just can help you to establish some kind of contact. With who or for what? Here are some ideas:

🔸Just do it for Journaling. Nothing scary, nothing witchy even almost lol. Think about that sentence. It makes you feel something, it reminds you of something, you associate it with something?

🔸For contacting a beloved one. Use a book that was from them, or that they liked it a lot. It could even be the Bible if you had a Christian grandma, whatever you feel confortable with. Is a really cool and safe spirit communication method. I do recommend you to do some meditations first, so you can get in the proper mindset.

🔸For working with deities like Atenea, goddess of wisdom. You can even do it in a public library. If you want to maintain a routine and valuable relationship with gods associated with culture, literature, or the arts, bibliomancy is a good option.

Some tips: Sometimes it's best to go without questions, and simply interpret what you find. Is also a good idea to use classics or just older books, perhaps you'll find it difficult to find profound messages from your grandfather in a Monster romance (or maybe that could be the best book possible if you grandpa had a great sense of humor 🥸). Don't panic if it doesn't make sense instantly, take your time but definitely don't overlook your first thoughts and feelings when you read that sentence; instant associations are also very valuable and natural. And OFC combine divinatory methods if you are already a tarot reader or something! I have sometimes used runes or bibliomancy as a complement to my tarot readings.

In theory I liked the plot, but I really had to push myself to get trough it. The characters are insufferable and I hated almost everyone, except Sierra and Beck. The story just lacks suspense and the murder case progresses so slowly, it feels like they're not making progress at all for the whole book. 😩 At least the escape rooms are mildly interesting.
