Thank you NetGalley, Saga Press, and Katrina Kwan for the free copy in exchange for an honest review.
THIS WAS SO GOOD, omg I loved it!! This had everything I'm looking for in a good book: dynamic characters, strong lore and world-building with mythological foundations, a fast-paced and intriguing story, and a sweet but fulfilling romance. I just ate it up and I was genuinely sad when it was over.
Yue was an incredibly captivating main character and I loved her from the very moment she stepped on the page. Her internal struggle about who she was born and who she wanted to be was so well written, and I just loved how she transformed throughout the book. Sonam was a great MMC as well and I really enjoyed the dynamic between him and Yue. Sooah and Wen were "side" characters but I really enjoyed their dynamic and individual stories and how they all were connected. So great!
While the majority of the story took place in Hell, I enjoyed how different each of the different sections were and the challenges that came along with them. They were all so unique but also made sense altogether. The lore and mythology were really fascinating and added a great deal of depth to the world and the story.
This is a book you should pick up immediately!! I am excited to read more from this author in the future!

This was so cute but also very thought-provoking! I enjoyed it!!
I will admit that I did not enjoy Chloe's character at the very beginning. However, as we learned more about her and her story, I understood why the author wrote her the way that she did. I personally have health issues and I can relate to the concept of almost always being in pain. I also can relate to the feeling of being scared that people won't understand or will reject you because of it. So, being guarded and standoffish is Chloe's way of handling that and having control, and I get it.
Then we have Red, who is the exact opposite. I also loved his character journey because he is also healing with his own emotional trauma, but doesn't know how to. The dynamic between Chloe and Red was so special to me because they each had to learn how to let each other in and trust that, despite all of their flaws and mistakes, they can heal and grow together. I really enjoyed reading that and it was very heart-warming to me.
Overall, I really enjoyed this. I am not typically a contemporary romance person but this one had so much heart and such a deep underlying message and meaning that it resonated with me. Highly recommend!

This was such a unique and fascinating read! I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started this, and I enoyed the ride!
Roslyn was such an interesting main character. I really enjoyed reading her journey through this story and how she grows through her grief and really starts to become a new person. Also, all of the other characters in this were so dynamic and unique, all of them felt like an important part of the story and of Roslyn's journey.
I did find it a little unrealistic that Roslyn would just pack up and go with these girls, and also just willingly accept Death's deal so easily. It felt like she didn't really question much, despite how odd the scenario is. I do feel like this story is a lot about how grief shapes you, so that is probably part of the reason why it was easy for her to fall into that, but it still felt strange to me.
I did really enjoy how everything became connected at the end. I didn't see that coming at all, and it was very much a satisfying conclusion to me. The full circle for Roslyn to be able to finally move on and heal from her grief.
Overall, this book is really good and I was invested in the story from the very start. Definitely recommend this if you're looking for something a little darker but with a deep story about death, love, and grief.

WHEW! This was a whirlwind of a read. This was full of suspense, tension, and TWISTS! I was on the edge of my seat until the very end. Admittedly, I read this right before I went on a cruise which probably wasn't the best decision but IT'S FINE!
I will admit that these characters were SO STUPID that most, if not all, of the events in this book could have been avoided if someone stopped to think for a second! HOWEVER, despite the stupid decisions made, I truly had a great time reading this. The dynamics between the characters were well-written and the emotional tension mixed with literal danger definitely added complexity to the story.
Also, I don't think I will ever get over that twist! OMG. It totally smacked me in the face and I did not see it coming AT ALL. It also made me very sad, but it was incredibly well done.
Overall, this was a very fun but stressful read and I definitely recommend it!
