i'm looking for books with absent father dynamics.
iāve dealt with it since i was a kid and i realised iāve never really read a book where itās explored as more than just a characterās backstory. most of the time itās mentioned once and then everyone moves on. i want to read about a character whoās still carrying that absence around with them. i want to see how it shapes them and affects the way they move through life.
any genre is welcome. iād just prefer fiction since iām not much of a non-fiction reader. i just want something where itās an actual part of the story and not just a detail thrown in for character development. thank you all in advance!

In honor of just having bought 8 books today (RIP my savings), tell me your most recent book purchases! I'm really curious š. Also if you've started reading them, give us your thoughts on it so far!

I think I wanted to dislike the Dreamer, but who am I if I am not also a dreamer?
I found myself and my own battle with depression and mental health reflected in this book and I think for this reason alone I cannot give it a rating

I just had the insanely jarring realization that honeymoons are a thing and I completely forgot about them when I set my username. Iāve always used ā golden moonā something as gaming usernames and just thought honey moon was a cute variation š«
This made me start wondering if I was similarly misreading anyone elseās usernames and what some of them meant. So while I think of a new username, I wanted to ask everyone whatās the story behind your username? š
Edit: The rebrand has been done š

I'm addicted to Mass Effect, and I'm (ahem) crazy in video game love with Garrus. I'm playing again, and I just really, really want to read a Sci-fi action book with romance, and bonus points if it's alien. (I want techy romance, with some meat to it. I've already read the first 3 Ice Planet Barbarians, and they're not it.)
In an era that includes Romantasy and romantasy with monster romance, and in which we already have a blueprint in the ME games, how has this not been written yet? Has anyone come across anything that might fit?

Just pre ordered The History of Mankind in itās Entirety by Fin Taylor! I am so excited, 98 days until release šš
Iāve pre ordered it as an audiobook as the only physical pre order options were Amazon or Waterstones. I desperately want a real copy, so I might have to bring myself to break the library/secondhand books only rule⦠Sorry to my love, sunshine and holy grail (the world of books app). Thereās just no other way.

It's been a while since I posted something similar to this. Finally, I'm done with schoolwork and got a new idea.
For accuracy, please include the year and painter. There are many artworks with the same name and I don't want anything to be mixed up.
Either way, I'll take a look at the painting and give a recommendation (I doubt I'll look into every painting's analysis, so the recommendation might have nothing to do with the actual meaning of the art, I'll mostly base myself on vibes).

Vent post about something relatively inconsequential!
I am reading Harriet Tubman: Live in Concert right now and Bob the Drag Queen has used the phrase āif Iām being honestā at least 3 times in the first hour of listening. I am starting to despise this phrase, mainly because it seems to add nothing to 90% of the sentences itās used in. There are a couple other authors Iāve read who use it a lot and Iām getting annoyed just thinking about it!
What turns of phrase or words make you cringe when you read them?

Ciao Bookaholics!
How is everyone doing?
My question for you all comes from the very history nerdy soul inside of me š
What historical event do you think would be a great premise for a book? š¤
