This book delivers exactly what the synopsis suggests. While on a camping trip in the PNW with her Bigfoot-fanatic online buddies, Olivia's crew manages to use a (fake) bigfoot mating call to draw the attention of an actual bigfoot...er, Sas'qet (aka Sasquatch/Squatch). Only, despite the mating call being fake, Squatch-Sean still comes out with his Squ'oner (Squatch 🦴er) swingin' and falls in insta-love with Olivia, proving this to her and the reader by strokin' it in a cave while staring her down and then promptly fleeing the scene.
What comes next, all the angst and confusion and weirdly heartwarming acceptance and dedication made for an enjoyable and lighthearted read. There was enough action and tension to keep the narrative flowing, but reader belief really hinges on our being able to accept O'Donal's version of Sasquatch lore/mythology and not question why she's attracted to a hairy man-beast who keeps getting horny and carrying her off (in much the same way we don't question why we enjoy reading about such topics; we just accept it as fact). The humor felt fitting, geeky and weird, and made the absurdity of the story as a whole feel more authentic.
I docked a star because the smut was certainly good but could have been better, there were some weak/unnecessary characters, and there were a few typos/inconsistencies I noticed within the text. That said, I tend to be more lenient with indie works, so it didn't really bother me that everything wasn't perfect.
I enjoyed this enough that I'll be keeping an eye out for the next installment about Sean's brother, Owen.
