I return to this book so often. It is easily my favorite of the series. It is so cozy despite the heartbreaks. It is tender and shows so many kinds of deep love and affection. Anne faces her trials and scrapes as always, but this book feels like she's finally achieving the life she deserves. I've re-read the last few pages countless times. I wish I could live in Patty's Place. Seeing the characters genuinely trying out adulthood for the first time is so comforting. I love the newer characters like Phil, and the wins Anne gets to have all on her own. Just a masterpiece.
“Honey, you couldn’t imagine me being a poor man’s wife could you? I can’t do a single useful thing, and I am very extravagant. ”
Chase that bag girl! We love a self-aware queen 👏
I am instantly enamoured with Phil. Her energy is infectious and has made her an immediately likeable character for me. I especially love her chattiness which reminds me so dearly of when we first met Anne. I hope Phil becomes a staple character!!
Royal being his real full name has always made me want to gaaaag. I hate it. But it truly adds to the whole "perfect man" vibe for Anne I think? Like girlfriend wanted (wants? lol) her name to be Cordelia. Cordelia is definitely a girl who marries a man named Royal haha
anne and gilbert walking down the aisle as bridesmaid and best man 😣😣 and then the walk down lovers lane 😣😣
i wasn’t expecting them to each be with other people—it’s actually so painful to read. it doesn’t feel right at all. and can’t get over roy’s full name being royal 😭
She kills me when she just uses Sloane to describe the way he is. As if there are no words that can aptly describe him and his entire family. To me it always felt like Montgomery was saying "you know the type 🙄" when referring to the Sloanes. Everyone knows a Sloane, even if they're not called the Sloanes.
“Even Gilbert’s presence brought her no comfort, for Charlie Sloane was there, too, and Sloanishness could be tolerated only in fine weather. It was absolutely insufferable in rain.”

Totally agree that Phil feels like young Anne. She gets into her own scrapes down the line but is so loveable and wild. She will stick around!
